Thermal Analysis

Brief Outline :  Heat transfer plays a very important role in  power train components and  this course  prepares the student  for  understanding  the basic physics and computational aspects of heat transfer analysis .  Steady state Conduction  coupled with Convection are covered in this  course . HYPERMESH and  MSC-NASTRAN are the softwares used in this course. Practical projects  in automobile and mechanical industry are also covered  .
Eligibility : Post Graduate  Enginnering students  of  Mechanical , Production ,Automobile engg  branches or  experienced candidates.
Contents :  Modes of heat transfer . Conduction in steady state and transient state .  Dimensionless numbers in fluid mechanics and heat transfer . Numerical methods for solving the conduction and convection equation . Finite element method for heat transfer problems . Understanding  the various matrices . Types of elements and  properties needed. Material properties for thermal analysis . Solution controls for transient analysis . Brief introduction to radiation analysis . Tutorials and  practical  projects .
